Which Lead Magnet Is Right For Your List?

There are 2 critical things to consider when choosing a lead magnet to bring in leads and grow your list. Often people pick the lead magnet that is “popular”. Just because it’s popular and converts doesn’t mean that it’s the right lead magnet for you or your community.

The first thing to consider when choosing what lead magnet to build is the format that your audience likes consuming. Some people love to read content, while others love watching videos. And yet some love listening to audio. Then there are people who like to go through a system.

In order for your lead magnet to be successful and bring in your desired audience and thus growing your list, you’ll need your lead magnet presented in a way that they will enjoy consuming.

If they love video, then writing an ebook won’t be what hooks them. If they are all about podcasts, then creating a podcast about your industry topic (even as a one off) is something that will easily draw them in.

Keep in mind that how you like creating content will influence how you get to your lead magnet as well. If you hate writing but your audience loves reading, then it’s very easy for you to record your content on video, then get it transcribed and formatted for a great blog article or even ebook or report.

The second thing you need to consider is your level of marketing ability. Some lead magnets are easier to create than others. There are lead magnets that take 5 minutes to put together and there are lead magnets that take 5 months to put together. And depending on where your business is at determines if it’s worth spending 6 months to put together a PLF.

People jump at a lead magnet like that because they can be so profitable. However, if you are just starting out that can be an overwhelming task that can ultimately put you out of business.

Starting with something quick and easy like a checklist is a much more viable way to bring in leads to your business and grow your list.
